On October 31, testing of NOAQ flood prevention solutions took place on the territory of the University of Tartu Clinic in order to protect critical areas from floods in the future.
According to Tauno Vanaselja, the clinic's business development and administration manager, the exercise is important because of the risks associated with climate change. "The unexpected rain that hit Tartu in August led to a situation where rainwater filled the 0th and 1st floors of the building at L. Puusepa 8, partially stopping the treatment work in the hospital's main building. We learn from the previous flood, mitigate future risks and practice solutions to manage critical situations more effectively," said Vanaselja, who said the purpose of the exercise is to implement modern solutions that can quickly direct and block water in the event of a flood.
